HISTORY
American Squares was founded in the Spring of 2005 and had its opening dance at the A-1 Program on Tuesday, May 31, with BOBBY POYNER from Joliet, IL doing the calling.
Then on Sunday, March 5, 2006, American Squares had its Official Inauguration Dance at the A-2 Program with TONY OXENDINE from Sumter, SC doing the calling.
In 2012 American Squares added C-1 Dancing to its schedule on a sporadic basis and changed its name to:
American Squares Advanced & Challenge Square Dance Club
The Club has continued to hold annual Advanced Lessons since its inception and has continued to slowly, but steadily, grow in Membership and is now also doing weekly C-1 Workshops on Sundays; when no Special Dances are scheduled.
The Club dances every Tuesday and several Sundays a year, all year. It is always casual attire.
The atmosphere is traditional, Square Dance, FUN. Never forgetting that is the reason why we dance! Regardless of the Program or Level we achieve.
Unlike most traditional Advanced & Challenge Program Clubs; who usually only have one Caller, American Squares uses many Guest Callers from all over.
“Bringing to YOU some of the World’s Best International, National, Regional, State, Area and Local Callers”
Fun - Fellowship - Friendship Set to Music
EVERY ADVANCED & CHALLENGE PROGRAM DANCER IS ALWAYS WELCOME!!
